Arrived stained with holes in it...and the towel is too rough

I was excited to come home to my amazon packages that had arrived yesterday, but when I opened my amazon basics cloths I was immediately disappointed. The towels were rough and linted, but worse than that the towel on the top of the stack was stained with some brown greasy stuff and there was a hole in the towel. I then went on to find 3 other towels in the same condition. This is unacceptable, and while I understand the product is a commodity and priced to be consumable, the quality of these towels is atrocious. I will most certainly be returning this item, and will be very wary of amazon basics products in the future.

Basic cheap microfiber cloths

These are decent basic cloths made of a blend of 90% polyester and 10% polyamide. While they feel fine for most every day cleaning tasks, when compared to a more premium quality cloth like the Quickie Dusting and Polishing cloth (which is 85% polyester and 15% nylon), the difference in both thickness and softness is pretty noticeable. The Quickie is both thicker and softer. On the other hand, it also costs four time as much, so that bump in quality comes at a price. I recommend a cloth like the premium Quickie for interior dusting and cleaning of delicate surfaces and video screens. These Amazon cloths (as well as other cheaper quality cloths, including Quickie's own branded 24-pack) are better suited for glass, non-delicate surface dusting, car washing, and other cleaning chores. They're roughly the size of a hand towel but very absorbent, so they can also be used for drying vehicles or other large surfaces. Soiled cloths must be cleaned by washing in warm water an d air drying. It specifically says do not tumble dry. They also suggest washing the cloths in cold water before use, presumably to extract stray fibers that may otherwise end up leaving a fuzz on your surfaces.

Nice looking towels

Towels for dashboard, seats, plastic trim and the like. If your microfiber is leaving small fibers behind, try to pick an edge of the towel to use as the forward edge and drive it around like it's a little car. You may have to go over the same area a couple of times, but once the towel is 'broken-in' in this way, it will leave less and less loose fiber in it's path.
